You’ve got a big event tomorrow (a date, a party, a presentation) and a huge pimple is threatening to ruin it. (Been there!) You’ve got no time to waste!
Here’s how to get rid of pimples overnight.
1. Pimple patch
I’ve used these, and they really do work! They contain ingredients that essentially draw the moisture out of your pimple and dry it up overnight.
Now, it’s not necessarily going to completely remove the raised bump or the discoloration, but it will help the pimple go down a ton, and then you can cover it with concealer.
These are my favorite pimple patches ever.
2. Salicylic acid + hydrocortisone cream + benzoyl peroxide
This lovely concoction has saved my face SO many times. In 2019, I was at a very important business conference, and I guess the stress of travel and networking made a HUGE PIMPLE form right in the center of my forehead (it was like I had a unicorn horn, y’all).
Panicked, I did some Googling and found out that if I mixed salicylic acid with hydrocortisone cream and benzoyl peroxide and then applied it to the pimple, it would go down overnight.
It helped SO much! It didn’t flatten it out completely, but it flattened it enough to where I could cover it with concealer and powder and it wasn’t so noticeable.
Here’s the exact ingredients I use. I mix them in a 1:1:1 ratio, meaning I do an equal amount of each product and just mix it in my palm and apply to the pimples.
3. Neosporin + bandaid
This is the only one of these overnight pimple remedies that I have not yet personally tried, but I saw it in the YouTube video below. She says it really works for her! Check it out:

4. Extraction by an esthetician
When my cystic acne was at its worst, I was desperate to get rid of the large painful cysts on my face. I ended up going to a beauty spa and hiring an esthetician to perform extractions. It hurt like nothing I’ve felt before. The esthetician will take a sterile small blade and make a tiny cut to let the cyst/pimple drain. She might also apply some creams or oils. It hurt so badly, but the esthetician told me there is no way to numb the face before doing the extraction. I don’t know why that is.
After the extraction, my face was very red and raw, so it was important to apply a lot of moisturizer to it. My esthetician discouraged me from applying makeup over my acne for the next couple of days, but I still did to conceal the redness left over.
5. Cortisone injection at the dermatologist
By far the fastest and most effective way to banish a pimple quickly is to get a cortisone shot at the dermatologist’s office. I’ve had many cortisone injections over the years for a keloid scar, so let me warn you: They hurt. The cortisone burns badly when it enters the skin. But the stuff is effective! It’s a steroid, so it flattens out the raised pimple. It should be gone by the next day.
This option is pricey so this is the best way to get rid of a pimple if you have a major event (like a red carpet event) tomorrow.
